Sigur Rós is a band that continues to challenge the length of our musical spectrums. The Icelandic post-rock quartet is known for their obscurity by use of atmospheric and inimitable instrumentation.

Their episodic new live album, Inní, is no different, but they rely too much on the band’s ability to conjure up innovative sounds without first finding the purpose behind them.

With moments of past brilliance, it’s not enough to carry the album into the glory of “Ágætis Byrjun.”

Inní feels too contrived to be deemed outstanding; however, if you have never heard of Sigur Rós, they’re a band worth experiencing for yourself.

Listen to the band’s one recorded track “Lúppulagið” from their live album above.
