"Vinyl Thief has those required elements of naturally thriving musical talent that we long to hear," says Killing The Cabinet writer Charissa Lock.
Nashville electro-rock band Vinyl Thief started building buzz with 2012's Rebel Hill EP. The band started playing shows to more and more passionate fans, culminating into CMJ showcases, where Sonicbids noted the band's "unreal energy."
The energy continued into 2013 with SXSW performances, where music blog Beautiful Buzzz says, "They stuffed their gear onto my little stage... and proceeded to slay that room to teeny tiny pieces."
Now people are taking notice. Vinyl Thief recently opened for The Joy Formidable on a string of dates, including a show at Boston's House of Blues. Since filling venues like New York's Pianos to capacity, the band is becoming at home on the road.
During all of this, Vinyl Thief recorded Fathoms, their fan-funded debut album.
Set for a fall 2013 release, Fathoms takes the energy, charisma, and musicianship of Vinyl Thief's live show to form a full-length record experience. Vinyl Thief blends pop melodies, electronic samples, rock guitars, and grooving basslines, all to unpredictable song structures. Fathoms breaks the electro-rock mold, resulting in surprise and delight even after repeat listens.
The first single off of Fathoms, entitled "Smooth", is set for an August 6th release.
